Welcome to our weblog which we have started to show our dogs, tell there stories and for everybody who’s interested in the race :
Perro de Agua Espagnol also known as Spanish Waterdog.
We ‘ll introduce you to our dogs :
Rico
Enrico de la Cuerda Floja. Born 01 april 2005. His father: Ambras du Pays d’Ardenne, his mother: Chavalina de la Galea. He’s the first born, so the most “spoiled” of the family.
Fenya
Fenya du Pays d’Ardenne. Born 14 may 2006. Her father : Ambras du Pays d’Ardenne, her mother: Chavalina de la Galea. She’s the full sister of Rico, very gentil and intelligent.
Negra
Lanka de la Galea. Born 15 august 2003. Her father: Hervie de la Galea, her mother: Sofia de la Galea. She’s lives with us since november 2007 and she’s a very happy dog now.
Izzy
Iñego du Pays des Vallées. Born 07 october 2009. His father: Amigo la Perrera Flamenca, his mother: Fenya du Pays d’Ardenne. He’s a very beautiful and lovely boy. He’s available as studdog for approved bitches !!
* About the race
The race is originally from Andalusie, southern of Spain. ( although there are several different stories about them going around). They we’re used as a shepherd for the cows and the sheeps, for hunting and to help the fisherman.
The Spanish Waterdog is a very gentil dog, intelligent and willing to learn. He likes to apport and of course to swim. He doesn’t lose his curley hair. He is also an excellent watchdog.
* Colors
The possible colors of the Spanish Waterdog are:
One-color : Black / Brown / White
Two-color : Black-White / White-Black / Brown-White / White-Brown
Forbidden are : Dalmatian, Three-color, Black and Tan
* Healthcare
You have to shave the Spanish Waterdog several times a year ( 2 to 4x) on one length. You may not brush them. It’s not necessary to wash them often, but when you do, make sure that the temperature is not above 20 C. You must also take care of the hair in the ears and pull them out frequently.
* Litter / Puppy’s
Once in a while we will have little puppy’s, born and raised in our house. We bring them in contact with children, other animals and make knowledge of all the everyday things.
